Under the Better Access initiative, Medicare rebates are available for up to ten twenty individual and ten group allied health services per year to people with a mental health issues who are referred by a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. Mental health services that can be provided under this initiative include Psychological Therapy services provided by eligible clinical psychologists and Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) services provided by eligible General Practitioners (GPs), registered psychologists, eligible social workers and occupational therapists. Extra support is available until 30 June 2022 for people who have a mental health treatment plan in place. People experiencing severe or enduring mental health impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic can access an extra 10 sessions.
